Stroke Rehabilitation

Stroke Rehabilitation is a necessary part of recovery for anyone who has experienced a stroke. After a stroke, the brain may be unable to remember how to preform previously simple tasks and must be re-trained. This process could take months or even years depending on the severity of the stroke.

Elite Care at Home works with you in your home on both physical and cognitive rehabilitation exercises.

The Elite Care at Home team will work with your physician, rehabilitation nurses, physical therapist, occupational therapist and any other medical specialists you may need in order to ensure that your ongoing rehabilitation has the highest chance full recovery. Stroke rehabilitation can take a very long time and can be very frustrating. Elite Care at Home can help to make the process as successful as possible.

The goals of physical activity rehabilitation are:

  • Strengthen motor skills, especially muscle movements involved with coordination, balance and swallowing.
  • Relearn how to walk using walking aids and braces to help support body weight while you regain mobility.
  • Strengthening limbs affected by the stroke through constraint-induced therapy, which is restricting the movement of the functioning limbs in order to promote movement of those affected by the stroke.
  • Lessen muscle tension and increase range of motion with exercises and other treatments.
  • Strengthening of muscles to promote healthy movement using electrical stimulation and exercises.
  • Improve communication through exercises and other techniques that help to regain speaking, listening, writing and comprehension.
